When it comes to new season trends where should you even begin? It can be overwhelming to dive straight into the myriad of newness from brands, runways and retailers but there are of course some that always shine through.

There are 3 trends this early in the season that stand out from the crowd for a multitude of reasons, not least because if you’re a dedicated follower of fashion you likely have seen some of these pieces not too long ago.

Discover the 3 trends we’re excited to see more of this spring as we dive into restyling, rewearing and renewing the pieces we already adore in our closet.

If there was ever a moment for all things plaid, checkered and gingham then spring 2025 is one of those times. There’s something to be said about trends that encompass a certain material or embrace a select pattern and the remergence of all things check is as flexible as they come.

  •

Choose your checkered style from feminine gingham to bold boucle, invest in a colour palette from classic Burberry tones to traditional Prince of Wales monochrome and even go so far as to select your silhouette. Checkered Loewe outershirts? Boucle Valentino trenches? Iconic Burberry accessories? Make the trend work for you and customise each and every facet to ensure your purchases stands the test of time as well as the seasonal changes.

80’S TAILORING

Tailoring is a trend as old as fashion time and each season we see subtle changes to the suiting landscape that creep into different trending decades. Hems climb and dip, shoulders rise and fall, cuts narrow and buldge; offering us an insight into what future workwear wardrobes might entail. This spring sees the return of 80’s tailoring and yes you guessed it right, the powersuit returns.

  •

We’re switching out the single breasted fitted blazers for oversized silhouettes with bold shoulders, the 80’s way sees loose fits teamed with the crispness of trouser darting and shoulders that scream you’re in charge. Skirt hems are sitting around knee to calf length with fitted pencil styles appearing from high street to designer brands. Some of the biggest houses have shared their take on the trend and when designers like Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney and Dries Van Noten embrace the masculinity of power suiting you know it’s most definitely a trend to follow.
